Tooth Whitening

Do you want to improve your smile? Are you concerned about yellowing or discolouration? Do you have a special event coming up? At Total Care Dental Studio, we believe in the whole facial aesthetic. If you are worried about your smile not being as bright as it once was, tooth whitening might be an option for you. Total Care Dental Studio offers two different options for Teeth Whitening, either in-chair or a take-home kit so whichever option better suits, we’ve got you covered!

What causes tooth discolouration?

There are a wide range of reasons why your tooth or teeth may be discoloured

This could be due to –

  • The tooth or teeth previously having been root canal treated
  • Stains from medications
  • Food colourings such as curry paste or pasta sauce
  • Berries, beetroot or other dark foods
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Stains from things such as smoking, coffee or tea

ZOOM! Teeth Whitening is one of the most trusted whitening treatments offered by dentists. The treatment is one of the quickest, safest and most effective procedures to turn your dull smile into the brighter, whiter smile you’ve been wishing for.

ZOOM! In-Chair Teeth Whitening

The procedure is very simple, taking anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Total Care Dental Studio patients can sit back and relax in our dental chair watching their favourite Netflix show as their teeth are whitened safely & professionally.

ZOOM! Take-home Whitening

Take-home whitening is a slightly cheaper alternative to the In-Chair whitening that we offer at Total Care Dental Studio. At your first appointment, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth, these are used to make your custom mouth trays. The whitening gel is inserted in the trays and is worn for 30-45 minutes per day, for 2 weeks.

After Treatment Care

After completing your whitening treatment, our dentists recommend avoiding any bright or dark coloured foods or drinks for at least 7-14 days. This is due to the enamel in your teeth being more porous in the first week or two after the whitening process. If you do consume any coloured food or drink in this time, we recommended rinsing straight afterwards. This routine ensures any staining particles are removed as promptly as possible.

How long will my teeth stay white after the treatment?

How long results last will depend on your personal habits. If you are eating and drinking foods which stain your teeth or are smoking, as well as other habits which contribute to tooth discolouration, your teeth will ultimately return to their original colour. We recommended maintaining your at-home maintenance schedule, brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing once a day.
